In keeping with my June-inspired goal of organizing my home, I have recently started to take on the bathroom. I am starting with this small room since I feel like I can make significant progress and quickly see the results of my efforts. I started by purging the medicine cabinet of all expired items and random things I have never used and don't even remember placing in there in the first place! I narrowed it down to just the essentials and realize I don't need much. (I will have to remind Ward that I really am a low maintenance kinda' girl!)
Once I finished with that, I got down to business organizing my medicine cabinet. I recently came across this great organizational product which helped me do this. Its called a Magnapod.* It is a magnetized, sectional plastic container that adheres to the inside of a medicine cabinet door. It has sections which can fit all different sized items you commonly place inside your medicine cabinet. I put my lipsticks, nail files, nail clippers, extra mascaras and other cosmetic items in the MagnaPod and then just stuck it to the inside of my medicine cabinet. It took me about two minutes, tops! It looks quite impressive but took no time and no effort at all. Love that! This clever product freed up all of the shelves in my medicine cabinet for non-cosmetic items, like band aids, first aid supplies and other useful things. This was a big help to me in organizing my medicine cabinet and making the most of the space. I even have room left over! I now know exactly where to find all of my make up items. I also like the fact that my daughter Tiny does not know that all of my make up items are now contained in the MagnaPod, so I can hopefully avoid finding her (or my bathroom) with a full-fledged makeover anytime in the near future. The MagnaPod also seems like it can be used in other areas in your home; wherever there is a magnetized surface, you could stick this and get organized. I might just have to incorporate this in my other home organization projects.
